What is the problem with a WordPress website that suddenly fails to send emails?

My site was previously able to send emails properly through the contact form plugin, but recently I've noticed that users are not receiving any email notifications after submitting a form. I've checked the plugin settings and haven't changed any of the parameters, what is causing the email to fail? Is there any solution for this?
