Recently I've been working on a blog + product showcase site for a client, and they wanted to show some extra information in each post, such as "ingredients", "target audience", "customer ratings "etc. This information is critical for SEO and user experience, but it's not suitable to be written directly in the body of the text.
I initially considered using the WordPress default post editor to add this content, but found that manually copying and pasting the structure each time was very inefficient and not very consistent. So I started looking into the possibility of structuring the post with "custom fields".
So here's the problem - WordPress, while having native custom field functionality, has a very basic interface and limited functionality. And while plugins like ACF seem to be more powerful, I'm not sure which one is better yet, and it's not clear if there's any difference in performance or compatibility between the two.
