How to solve 404 error

After just completing a fresh install of WordPress, my home page is showing a "404 error". I've confirmed the site's files and settings, but can't pinpoint the exact cause of the problem. Redesigning a WordPress website to start over?

We are in the process of redesigning our website. Right now I'm at the stage where I'm starting a new website, but I'm not sure what the best way to go about it is. The goals are going to be relatively basic, no e-commerce, and not much really useful content on the site. The number of unused pages on the original site is already high, and I'm wondering if I should just get rid of all the content and start over somehow.

Show posts under categories on the home page

When creating a website using WordPress, I would like to reorganize the order in which the content is displayed on the homepage: the product categories are displayed first, and then the corresponding posts are displayed under each category in turn.
That is, when a user opens the home page, the first thing they see is the list of categories, and only when they scroll down the page can they see the posts under each category. At the moment I haven't found a suitable plugin or CSS code to...

Unable to connect to database

My site keeps flickering and displaying the error "Unable to connect to database: This site is currently experiencing problems. Please visit again later. Error: 2002". I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but in the background, the error log keeps showing "Warning: mysqli_real_connect(): php_network_getaddresses
Can anyone tell me how to fix this?
