Elementor is a popular WordPress page builder plugin that provides an intuitive and powerful drag-and-drop interface that allows users to easily create and edit site layouts without writing any code. Before we use the Elementor editor, let's familiarize ourselves with its basic layout.

Elementor Editor Layout

The editor consists of three main areas: the top bar, the panel and the canvas.

You can find design elements (e.g. containers) and widgets (e.g. header widgets) used to build the page in this panel. For more details on moving elements from the panel to the canvas, you can refer to theAdding elements to a page. It is also possible to adjust element, page and site settings in this panel. 

Canvas

The canvas is also known as the content area. Pages/Posts/Website sections will be created here. To increase the width of the canvas, click the hide panel arrow to add more space.

There are different views that can be used when working on a page. More detailed information about these different views can be found in the DegreeChanging the canvas view. If headers and footers appear on the canvas, their color changes when you hover over them. Click inside a header or footer to switch from editing the page to editing that site section. Click the page area to return to editing that page. You will be prompted to save before switching.

Creating Containers

1. On the canvas, click the + icon.

The container layout can now be selected.

2. Select the first container layout. This will create a container with a vertical layout.

3. On the top bar, click the plus icon.

4. From the panel, drag the title widget to the new container.
