How to send WordPress website inquiries to a specific email address in real time

Every website needs an inquiry form that makes it easy for visitors to contact you about the products and services you offer.WordPress doesn't offer inquiry forms directly by default, but fortunately, you can easily add one and don't need to write any code at all.

This article will guide you on how to quickly set up an inquiry form in your WordPress website.

Step 1: Choosing the Best WordPress Contact Form Plugin

First, you need to pick a suitable WordPress contact form plugin.

Although there are many free and paid plugins available on the market, we recommend using WPForms. we use this plugin ourselves and think it is one of the best on the market.

Once you've selected the plugin, we'll next show you how to install it on your site.

Step 2. Install Contact Form Plugin in WordPress

In this guide, we'll use the WPForms Lite version, which is not only free but also great to use.

To install this plugin, login to your WordPress control panel and click on "Plugins" " "Add New".

Next, type "WPForms" in the search box, find it and click "Install Now".

This action will automatically install the plugin to your site.

Then, just click the "Activate" button to enable the plugin.

Step 3. Create a Contact Form in WordPress

Now that WPForms is activated, you can start making your contact form in WordPress.

Simply go to your WordPress control panel, find "WPForms" and click "All Forms". Then, just click the "Add New" button.

This will open up WPForms' drag-and-drop form builder and its template library. First, name your contact form and pick a template.

Picking a template is easy: just hover over the template and click "Use Template".

WPForms Lite offers more than 20 free form templates to create various types of contact forms according to your needs.

In this example, we will choose the "Simple Contact Form" template. This template will automatically add the fields "Name", "Email" and "Message" for you.

You can click on any field on the form to edit it.

When you click on it, a panel called "Field Options" will appear on the left, where you can make various changes to the selected field.

You can also change the order of the fields by dragging and dropping them using the mouse.

If you want to add a new field to the form, just pick one of the options on the left.

You can drag this field onto the form or just click on it so that it automatically appears in your form.

Once you have customized your form, remember to click the "Save" button.

Step 4. Configure WordPress Form Notifications and Confirmations

Now that your contact form is ready, it's important to next set up confirmation messages and notification emails after the form is submitted.

A "Form Acknowledgement" is the feedback that visitors see after submitting a form. This can be a simple thank you message, a link to a downloadable PDF, or whatever you want to display.

"Form Notification" is the email notification you receive on your WordPress site when someone fills out a form.

To set up a confirmation message, click on the Settings tab, then find and click on Confirmation in the form builder.

A default thank you message has been provided, but you can customize this message in the Acknowledgement Message field as desired.

If you want the user to jump to another page after submitting the form instead of displaying a confirmation message, select the "Go to URL" option, which can be found in the "Confirmation Type" drop-down menu.

Next, enter the web address (URL) of the page you want the user to go to in the appropriate place.

Don't forget to click the "Save" button if you have made any changes.

Next, check that your form notification settings are correct. Simply click on "Notifications" under the "Settings" menu.

One of the advantages of WPForms is that its default settings are great for beginners. Once you enter the notification settings, you'll see that all the fields are already filled in automatically.

By default, any notifications will be sent to the administrator's email address that you used when you built your site.

If you want to change to another email address, just change the new one there. And, if you want to send notifications to more than one e-mail address at the same time, just separate them with a comma.

The system will automatically use your form name as the "Email Subject Line". The "From Name" field will be populated with your username.

When you reply to a message on the form, the reply is sent to the e-mail address that the user has entered in the contact form.

Remember to click the "Save" button after making any changes.

Step 5. Add the WordPress contact form to the page

You've set up your WordPress contact form, the next step is to get it on the page.

This form can be added to an existing "Contact" page on your website, or you can create a new page.

To create a new page, go to "Pages" and select "Add New". Give your page a name.

Next, we'll add the form using the WPForms module. Click on the "plus" button on the page and search for "WPForms".

Then select the "WPForms" module that appears.

Now the "WPForms" module will be displayed in the edit area of the page.

Next, you will need to click on a drop-down menu to select the form you created earlier.

WPForms will show you a preview of your contact form in the editing screen. Now you can save your form by clicking the Publish or Update button.

Save it and you can see what it looks like on your website.

If all you need to do is put a contact form on the page, then your mission is accomplished, congratulations!

In addition, WPForms provides a special code called shortcode that allows you to use it more flexibly. To find this shortcode, just go to "WPForms" and click "All Forms", there you can see the shortcode next to each form, just copy it.

Next, open the page where you want to add the form, click the "plus" button on the page to add a new module, and search for "shortcode".

Then, select the "Short Codes" module that appears.

Step 6. Install WP Mail SMTP Plugin

Whichever SMTP service you decide to use, you'll have to install the WP Mail SMTP plugin on your site first. This will allow your WordPress to send emails via SMTP service instead of using the default PHP mail() function.

First, install and enable the WP Mail SMTP plugin.

Then, in the WordPress control panel, find and click on theWP Mail SMTP, start setting up the plugin.

First, fill in the name and business email address you wish to display as the sender of your website. Make sure that the email address used here is the same as the one you intend to use for the SMTP service.

You can also set it so that all emails are forced to use this name and email address, even if other plugins like WPForms have different settings. This way, WP Mail SMTP will ensure that these settings are used first.
